 Proveniente
dall'Africa tropicale occidentale. Si presenta con alburno
giallognolo e durame giallo carico o giallo bruno. Grasso
al tatto, di peso specifico stagionato all'aria da 0,65 a
0,75 con tessitura non molto fine. E giudicato durevole e
resistente sia nei riguardi dei funghi che degli insetti,
tanto da farlo paragonare al Teak. Impiegato per costruzioni
idrauliche e navali, per lavori da falegnameria e per pavimentazioni. |

 Iroko
comes from Tropical Western Africa. It has a yellowish sapwood
and a dark yellow or brown yellow heartwood. It is greasy
to touch. Its specific weight once air seasoned ranges from
0,65 to 0,75. It has a very tight structure. It is considered
long-lasting and resistant to fungi and insects to the point
of being compared to TEAK. It is used in hydraulic and naval
constructions, joinery and flooring. |

 Iroko
kommt aus dem tropischen Westafrika. Es hat gelblichen Splint
und dunkelgelbes oder braungelbes Kernholz. Es ist fettig
beim Antasten, hat eine nicht sehr feine Struktur und sein
spezifisches Gewicht, nach Austrocknung in der Luft, beläuft
sich auf 0,65 bis 0,75. Es ist so dauerhaft und resistent
gegen Pilz - und Insektenbefall, daß es dem Teak verglichen
werden kann. Man benutzt es für Fußböden,
Tischlerarbeiten und Schiffsbauten. |
