proveniente dalla Calabria. Si presenta con alburno giallognolo
o bruniccio chiaro; il durame, a contorno irregolare, è bruno
più o meno cupo e variegato o marmorizzato da strisce
ancor più scure, talora tendenti al grigio nerastro,
ad apparenza grassa. La tessitura è finissima e la
fibratura molto tormentata. L'essiccazione deve essere condotta
con molta cura per diminuire al massimo gli spacchi; è molto
durevole. Peso specifico stagionato all'aria attorno a 1.
Con un'accurata scelta del materiale si possono ottenere
liste da pavimento che risultano di notevole pregio.. |

 Our
olive comes from Calabria. It has a yellowish or light brown
sapwood. Its heartwood has an irregular outline and is darkish
brown, variegated or marbled by even darken lines which sometimes
turn blackish grey. It is greasy to look at. It has a very
tight structure and a very twisted fibre. A great deal of
care is put into drying olive wood to avoid cracking as much
as possible. It is of excellent durability. The specific
weight once air seasoned is round about 1. Remarkable parquet
flooring can be obtained with careful choice of the material. |

kommt aus Kalabrien (Süditalien). Die Bäume aus
dieser Gegend gelten als die edelsten und qualitativ hochwertigsten.
Olive ist ein sehr feinporiges, geschlossenes Hartholz. In
der Grundfarbe gelblich bis hellbräunlich mit einer
dunkelbraunen Maserung wirkt die Olive wie edler Marmor.
Die Schattierung geht auch ins rosane, gräuliche sogar
ins schwärzliche über. Dies ist nicht stockig sondern
gehört zur Eigenart der Olive. Die Struktur ist sehr
fein und die Faser sehr unregelmäßig. Die Austrocknung
erfordert viel sorgfalt, um Riße zu vermeiden.Es ist
sehr dauerhaft. Das spezifische Gewicht, nach Austrocknung
in der Luft, ist 1. Man kann sehr wertvolle Fußböden
machen. |
